Empowering the next agricultural leaders

The AgForce School to Industry Partnership Program (SIPP) is set to host the highly anticipated Food, Fibre and Agricultural Educators Conference from 12 to 16 January 2025.

Bringing together passionate educators, industry experts, and innovators, the event promises to be a transformative experience for those dedicated to shaping the future of agriculture and its integration into Australian classrooms.

Held on the Gold Coast, the conference will feature inspiring keynote speakers, engaging workshops, and exclusive tours to showcase Queensland’s rich agricultural landscape.

Highlights include visits to cutting-edge farming operations and processing facilities, offering firsthand insights into modern industry practices.

Keynote presentations include Dan Allen and Ed Ross, co-founders of TradeMutt and TIACS, who are leading advocates for mental health awareness in the agricultural sector.

Their keynote will delve into innovative approaches to mental health, emphasizing the importance of open conversations within the industry.

Additionally, Tim Gentle, a digital crusader and educator, will share insights into leveraging technology for storytelling and collaboration in agriculture, inspiring educators to integrate digital tools into their teaching practices.

The program also includes dynamic presentations by renowned speakers such as InFarm founder and managing director Jerome Leray and AAM Investment Group sustainability manager Kari Moffat, experts in sustainable farming technologies, and associate professor Amy Crosby, CQU agri-tech and extension, a leader in agricultural education innovation.

These sessions will explore vital topics, from incorporating agriculture across the curriculum to understanding emerging career opportunities in the sector.

AgForce general manager of media and community engagement, Tanya Nagle, emphasized the importance of connecting educators with the latest industry knowledge:

“Agriculture underpins Australia’s economy, providing food, fibre, and countless career opportunities,” she said.

“It’s essential that teachers are equipped with up-to-date resources and real-world insights to inspire the next generation of agricultural professionals.”

With networking opportunities galore, attendees can connect with industry representatives, fellow educators, and policymakers to exchange ideas and foster meaningful collaborations.

Participants will also gain access to the latest teaching resources, ensuring agriculture remains an engaging and integral part of classroom learning.

AgForce community engagement manager Kellie Blinco said agriculture isn’t just about farming.

“It’s about innovation, sustainability, and solving global challenges.

“Events like this help bridge the gap between industry and education, ensuring students are aware of the vital roles they can play in this dynamic field.”

From STEM integration to careers in agribusiness, technology, and environmental science, the conference offers valuable insights into how educators can prepare students for rewarding futures in agriculture.
