$2M result at February All Breeds

Bulls sold to a top of $27,500 and heifers to $8000 ending in a gross of $2.009m at last week’s annual February All Breeds Bull and Female Sale, CQLX, Gracemere.

The two day fixture saw 290 bulls sell at auction for a 65 per cent clearance of the catalogue on the way to setting a bottom line average of $6407.

In total 37 heifers sold to a highs of $8000 to average $4095 in a 65 per cent clearance at auction.

The combination of the two sexes saw an across the board clearance rate of 65 per cent.

With the sheer numbers of bulls on the open market (both auction and privately) the sale produced some surprising results.

This year’s sale saw male clearance rates fall by only four percent and average values for bulls declined by a mere $17 per head when compared to 2024 results.

The female section of the catalogue experienced a harder market. Average values decreased by $655 per head when compared to the 2024 result while clearance levels dipped by 11 per cent in the same period. Overall, the bottom line clearance levels fell by only five per cent. (Last year 321 bulls sold clearing 69 per cent of the offering to average $6424.

Fifty-two heifers averaged $4750 in a 76 per cent clearance at auction culminating in a $2.3M gross and a clearance rate of 70 per cent across the board).

Sale honours were claimed by Droughtmasters. Hamadra Nedrick (P) catalogued by Drew McKenzie, Hamadra stud, Bluff sold for $27,500 to Dave and Colleen Smith, Vale View stud, Manumbar.

At $22,000 was the Brangus used sire, Kraken Rip 391S offered by Jason Jeynes, and Julie Sheehan, Kraken stud, Dalma.

Having been passed in below the vendors reserve it was announced a short time later that the bull had sold to the Lamb family, Parraweena, Banana.

Top selling Brangus bull at auction was the $14,000 red entry, Burrumbush R27.

Offered by Goovigen breeders, Tim and Rebekah Dwyer, Burrumbush stud, Goovigen.

Taking home, the bull was Chris, Aida and Ashley Mahon, Belfield, Bauhinia.
