New program for aspiring agricultural professionals

Aspiring young agricultural professionals are invited to take the next step in their beef industry careers with the 2025 NH Foods and Angus Foundation Cadetship program, now open for applications.

This prestigious program offers a life-changing opportunity for rural youth to gain hands-on experience, professional exposure, and valuable insights into Australia’s red meat supply chain.

The NH Foods Cadetship is designed to cultivate future leaders who are passionate about contributing to the success of Australia’s beef industry.

The cadetship delivers practical, on-the-ground training across a diverse range of sectors, including feedlot operations, meat processing, and supply chain management, while fostering leadership and personal development.

This program is open to individuals aged over 18 who are passionate about the beef industry and eager to contribute to its future.

Angus Australia extension officer Hanlie Jansen encourages eligible young people with a strong commitment to agriculture to apply.

“The NH Foods Cadetship is an incredible opportunity for young people to immerse themselves in the beef supply chain and gain essential skills that will set them apart in the industry,” Mrs Jansen said.

“Participants will receive invaluable mentoring and hands-on experience that will open doors for future careers.”

The 2025 Cadetship offers an all-encompassing experience that includes:

– Rotations across key NH Foods operations, including Whyalla Beef Feedlot, processing plants Oakey Beef Exports and Wingham Beef Exports and the company’s Sydney head office

– Exposure to seasoned agricultural professionals

– The chance to build networks and forge industry connections that will last a lifetime.

“I would like to encourage you to apply for the NH Foods and Angus Foundation Cadetship,” NH Foods head of human resources Gavin Pringle said.

“The successful candidate will experience a cadetship at NH Foods where you will spend time in our facilities exploring how it all works.

“We will focus the experience on what you are most interested in seeing, but you will travel to our processing plants, our feedlot and our Australian head office in North Sydney.”

All transport and accommodation costs are included as part of the cadetship.

Further to the scholarship opportunity, the successful cadet will conclude their cadetship by completing the Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Program.

“The winner will attend the Marcus Oldman Leadership Program which is the arguably best agriculturally focused leadership program available in Australia,” Mr Pringle said.

Applications close Friday, January 31st, 2025.
